Took keen hold - raced near side - held up in rear - headway over 1f out - went fourth inside final 110yds - ran on - 1st of 10 in group (jockey said - regarding the running and riding - his instructions were to get cover and try to get the gelding to relax. he added that having ridden the gelding previously at the curragh he knew the gelding well and that it was a tricky ride - racing very keenly today in the early stages. he further added that in hindsight having opted to switch right leaving the stalls - it may have been better to have gone left leaving the stalls and get cover from the far-side group which raced with more pace. the rider further added that he had made his effort approaching the final furlong and - in his opinion - he was only staying on through beaten horses before finishing well into 4th place - and in his opinion - he had obtained the best possible placing. the trainer's representative confirmed these instructions reiterating that the gelding was a difficult ride and very fresh having been off for 169 days. the trainer's representative added that he was satisfied with the ride and that considering the horses absence since october 2024 - he was pleased with the performance today)(op 10/1 tchd 17/2)
