Held up in last - not clear run over 2f out - some headway from over 1f out - went fourth inside final furlong - never dangerous (inquiry held into running and riding; jockey stated his instructions were to get gelding to settle in order to get him to finish his race having failed to beat a horse home in his previous two runs having run keenly; he explained gelding was awkward leaving stalls and slow into stride as a result but he was happy to settle at rear of field although gelding was still inclined to overrace; he added that although he settled by end of back straight he was denied a clear run rounding final bend when gelding made a respiratory noise which meant he had to delay his challenge until he had gelding balanced in home straight when it finished one paced passing beaten horses; he stated he would recommend to trainer that gelding might benefit from the application of a tongue strap and a step up in trip to a mile)(op 22/1)
