In touch with leaders - soon pushed along - ridden over 1f out - soon outpaced and beaten (an enquiry was held into Jack Mitchell's riding of the colt; the rider stated that his mount hung badly left-handed - a fact which he had reported to scales - and as a result raced awkwardly and was difficult to assist in the home straight. He added that having relinquished fourth place - he was mindful that if he had continued to ride out to the line that the colt may have continued to hang left-handed and hamper any runners improving on his inside and as such eased his mount down in the closing stages.
