Held up in rear - some headway but still plenty to do 2 out - tenderly handled but kept on well approaching last - ran on run-in - never on terms (inquiry held into running and riding; jockey stated that his instructions were to drop in gelding and to take his time on heavy ground to obtain best possible position; he explained that gelding took a nice hold and - settling into a good rhythm - he was happy to stay with majority of field as in his opinion the first two horses went off too quickly and had he asked for an effort earlier he would have finished further down the field; trainer stated he was satisfied by ride and that it accorded with his instructions; their explanations were noted)(tchd 25/1)
