Took keen hold - held up in rear - slow jump 2nd - headway and went modest fourth after 3 out - hit 2 out - ridden and kept on run-in - never near to challenge (an inquiry was held into running and riding of gelding - which was held up at the rear of the field before being asked for an effort in the straight where he ran on strongly; both jockey and trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race and vet reported that a post-race examination of gelding - during routine testing - failed to reveal any abnormalities; jockey said that his instructions had been to drop gelding in and to attempt to relax and settle him as he had run very freely on both of his previous starts; in addition - he said that gelding had jumped novicey when schooling at home and that it was therefore his intention to get gelding jumping; he continued he did not want to pass a horse early and to instead sit slightly detached from field as he would have got lit up if he had attempted to pass a runner in early stages; he therefore did not begin to improve his position until rounding home bend on final circuit and he did not begin to ask for an effort until after jumping the third last; having done so - he stated that gelding had run on past tired horses - before making a slight error at the second last; trainer confirmed instructions and that ride had accorded with them)(op 25/1 tchd 22/1)

Always behind - ridden and no response after 6th - tailed off

Took keen hold - prominent - went second 2nd - wandered around and led 3rd - headed and raced in second 5th - lost second 6th - weakened before 3 out - tailed off (jockey said gelding ran too freely)

Midfield - went fourth home turn - ridden and outpaced before 3 out - soon lost fourth - weakening when mistake 2 out - tailed off(op 22/1 tchd 20/1)

Took keen hold - prominent - lost position and dropped to midfield 2nd - dropped to last and lost touch home turn - tailed off(op 28/1 tchd 25/1)

Midfield - pushed along briefly 6th - pushed along and outpaced when slow jump 3 out - soon weakened - tailed off(op 150/1)
