Took keen hold - held up in rear - headway but still plenty to do after 4 out - shaken up 3 out - not fluent 2 out - kept on and went modest third run-in (jockey said - regarding running and riding - that his instructions were to drop gelding in and to get him settled as he had raced keenly in his previous races; he added that he wanted to get gelding jumping as this had been poor on his previous two starts over hurdles; he explained that he was able to get his mount settled at the rear of the field in the early stages - but that the front few quickened going out onto the final circuit - leaving those racing towards the rear - including himself - becoming detached; gelding was outpaced and raced on and off the bridle; trainer said he was satisfied with the ride)
