Took keen hold - held up in rear - pushed along after 3 out - headway after 2 out - briefly went fourth run-in - kept on but no extra final 110yds (stewards inquired into running and riding; the rider stated his instructions had been to get the gelding settled bearing in mind it was the gelding's first run over hurdles and then make his best way home from there - he added that the gelding ran very enthusiastically in the early stages - a fact he had reported at Scales - however he was happy with the way the gelding had moved and jumped; he further added that the gelding had only settled after jumping the final hurdle in the back straight and had tired in the closing stages and he was therefore pleased with the gelding's finishing position; the trainer confirmed the instructions and stated that he was satisfied the ride accorded with those instructions; their explanations were noted)(tchd 40/1)
