The rider stated that his instructions were to ride the gelding as he found it - bearing in mind that it had run too freely in the past. Jockey said that he was happy to drop his mount in as he felt that the other runners had gone off too quickly and that the gelding had hung right-handed at various stages throughout the race - a fact which he had reported at scales.
