Wolverhampton (AW) 7 7f Callum Shepherd David Simcock 9 1:28.99 2 56 9-8 4/1
Held up in rear - not clear run over 1f out - no impression (jockey was questioned regarding his riding of gelding over final 2f after reporting at scales that he had been denied a clear run in home straight; jockey was questioned specifically as to why he had appeared not to make greater effort to improve his position and obtain a run that existed between rivals for some distance approaching final furlong; in explaining his riding jockey indicated that due to his positioning down the inner at rear of field - he had made the decision from leaving back straight to ride for luck and search for inside runs rather than potentially be forced extremely wide when mounting his challenge; he continued by saying that he wanted to be certain that the run which presented itself shortly after straightening for home remained open as he was conscious that a rival in front of him had set a solid pace and was giving ground - whilst that rival was also under pressure to his outside and his rider had whip in his right-hand; for this reason he had been reluctant to fully commit gelding into a gap which in all likelihood would close; however he was nudging gelding along and keeping the revs up at same time before - as he had anticipated passing 1f marker - gelding was denied a clear run between rivals and had to check off heels; he added that there were two factors behind his thinking in not committing for what he considered to be a low percentage gap - firstly that gelding was dropping back in trip and is not known for having a turn of acceleration and secondly that he had suffered a very heavy fall on the all-weather in October 2024 and considered that by putting gelding into a narrowing gap - which it would not have the pace to necessarily quicken through before it closed - would present a heightened opportunity for him to suffer serious interference)(op 7/2 tchd 10/3 and tchd 9/2)

Wolverhampton (AW) 6 1m½f Taryn Langley David Simcock 5 1:49.42 0.2 54 9-0 13/8F
Slowly into stride - held up in rear - going okay but still plenty to do over 1f out - ran on well inside final furlong - nearest finish (inquiry into running and riding; jockey said her instructions were to jump out and sit where she was happy - before riding the race as she found it; she was content with her position and travelled well off a pace she considered to be just modest; approaching home turn she angled wider around the heels of a rival to avail herself of clear running; however rounding home bend and in early part of straight was a misjudgement of her surroundings and contributed to gelding being left with too much ground to make up; trainer's rep confirmed instructions; trainer was interviewed via phone - where he expressed concern with manner in which gelding was ridden from approximately 2f out until inside final furlong - with gelding being too far out of his ground before being asked to challenge)(op 7/4)

In touch with leaders - smooth headway and led narrowly over 1f out - headed and hung right inside final furlong - kept on but no extra towards finish (jockey was asked to explain his riding in home straight; he said his instructions were to sit behind the leaders until approximately halfway and wait for as long as possible to mount his challenge as gelding finds little off the bridle; he added that when he asked gelding for an effort approximately 1f out there was very limited response and that the gelding felt flat having run only 3 days prior - which was subsequently confirmed by trainer's rep; his explanation was noted)(op 4/11)
